Don't let us talk you into anything you weren't planning on in the first place. If you want to keep it short, punchy and straight to the point so your teacher doesn't have to sort through a pile of masive doccuments then it doesn't need to be padded. The only reason to pad it out is to make it bigger.

 

As far as referencing goes i would say it is essential. You don't need to prove every sentence individualy but you do need to have the facts to back up everything you write. If the information you have put forward was sourced from a certain place then make a note of it in your references. Simply, you should be able to prove any facts you put forward. Look at education and medical information, it makes good references but seeing as you have already written it go back and make a note of all the sources of your information, if it's required.
