ventilation times ?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've allways run my fans 24/7. One hydro shop has recomended I turn off my fans when the lights are off and start them half a hour after the lights come on so the plants can use the co2 that has been produced during darkness. Dose anybody else do this ?

sounds like your hydro dude is an idiots ( no offence) , he is increasing your risk of mould buy wellover 50% with advice like that

first point is co2 is most effectivly used during the time of leaf photosynthisis meaning when the lights are on ,

and the seccond part is that your highest humidity is goign to come in dark periods , and the fan is there to suckout that humidity so that the heads don't get mouldy and also it keeps the humidity levels in controll so that durign lights on it doesn't stay high

I would run your fan 24/7 unless your set on co2 inwhich case I would flip around what he said and use the fan breaks durignthe light hours

yep Pure's right you have to run fans 24/7 or you'll develope a lot of moisture in your growing area during fan off, this will result in water droplets forming on your leaves and buds. I try not to talk to people in hydro shops or shops in general, there only there to sell you stuff and often have no idea what there selling or talking about

The size of the grow room and location of the intake vents comes into play here too, I have had no choice but to run my exhaust at staggered intervals due to the winter temperatures but my intake is dry air from the roof area above the lounge room. However, I am only getting away with it because as Ferengi mentioned my plants are in veg and not so prone to mould and my dark period is during the warmer part of the day, I still exhaust during the "night" as well.

sounds like your hydro dude is an idiots ( no offence) ,
Worse luck my search for a local hydro shop has been an experience in patience for me, although I must admit to using the word "idiot" to one, the word before it started with an "f", too :peace: The "hydro dude" is a loser Wal, find one you can rely or at least continue check out any advice he or she gives you.

Agreeing with the other guys here, u certainly dont want the fans off while the lights are off...not the entire time at least... i turn the fans off for 1 hour in the middle of the cycle so the motors can cool down....electronics last twice as long when u give em a bit of a break, so i turn off the carbofil, intake and the exhaust. i still keep the oscillating fan running during this time over the canopy tho...
