Three Leaved Seedling?

Umm ok i ment to post this earlier in the week but anywase. ONe of my kc33xmango seeds germinated with three water leaves then followed with 3 single leaves..... WTF is my plant gonna be a mutant or is this a desirable trait? i ahve never herd of nor seen it in any other of my seedlings.

 

 

If u guys want pics to explain what i am talking about i can have em up tonight

I wouldn't worry about it, it's not that unusual a happening really, the plants usually grow up fine.

Happened to me this year too, one of my bbxww plants came up with triple nodes instead of the standard opposed double. Yeah, I thought it might be a super plant too! But as someone here said, and turned out to be true, they tend to be male. (Wonder why? Whitecluster? t-boat?) Keep it though, you never know. If it does turn out to be a girl she'll have a lot more tips than a comparably aged seedling of normal appearance, and that's got to be a good thing, right!?

A while ago when i first did the mass grow out of headstone i also came across a polyploid (3 or more nodes) im not sure if this will suit you or not, but are the three nodes also growing three nodes?? or is it just a one off thing?

 

If the main growing shoot also has the trait i would clone off that and leave the mum to be scrogged out.... i dont think i have any pics on hand

ONly a baby right now but yes it is growing another set of 3 leaves. So if it turns out to be female this is keeper :-D

 

 

Thanx guys i will keep u informed as to wether it continues growing in threes.

 

 

P.S does anyone out there have a siamese plant? 4 leaves

hey,

if you search google or any botanical site it will go into a heap more detail... Basically what your looking for now is whether it is going to keep that trait going or if it disapears in a few more nodes....

 

If it does hang about it maybe a keeper, if it starts to regrow as normal you can consider topping the plant at last 3 node spot.....

 

 

Other one i encountered was a twisting sweet tooth#3, that actually twisted the veins on the main stem between each node... nothing special came of it just really wierd to watch grow

I know what a polyploid is, I grow orchids and this is a huge part of cymbidium growing, what I want to know is how you know that that particular plant is polyploid, did you do a chromosome count? Or is that just a guess, based on others telling you that 3 node plants are polypoids?
