Hey there, I'm having a re-think about the dutch pot system I was going to assemble, I'm thinking a set of pipes would better use the limited space I have at present. Just 1200mm or so by a 1000mm. If I make the holes close enough I could go with SOG and use every cm effectively, alternatively I could use it half pace if I wanted to and grow larger, slower. My concern is I used a pipe system once (short period of time, maybe 6 months), and had no real probs. Then out of the blue , I had a plant die. I pulled it from the garden, and a few days later, another died, (rotting inside out).. This went on over a few weeks until no plants were left at all. I'm fanatic abou…

There's a dump out here, near me.. they have a kinda "shop" affair. They sell stuff that people might be able to use. I sometimes go there to get pots for the garden, but gee I've seen some amazing stuff, and is a good source for making a system. Lengths of PVC pipe, timber, tubs. They even have like 10 or so 150watt HPS lights there in a box for ten dollars a pop! ballasts and light holder, bulb..all there. I once got two seperate NFT systems there. One just a meter long, 3 pipes wide. The other one was a fair bit larger. I used both almost exactly as i found them and bought them for pittance. They seem to "price" things as they go along. When I asked them about the p…

Does anyone ever have a problem getting their PH down. I bought advanced nutrients PH down and its supposed to be very concentrated. The guy told me to add just a few drops really to bring it down. My PH is at 7 atm, and ive added probably 20 drops and it has hardly gone down. Anyone got any advice for me? Or should i just keep adding the acid. Thanks

Ok, I finally worked out the way I'm going forward with this grow, and seeing as I've committed my limited resources already toward it, it is what I will be doing. No turing back now, the goodies are bought. I want to do something completely different in the long run, but for this grow, I'm going to utilise the odd shape area I have thus- 1400mmx800 x about 8 feet tall. !k watts HPS, with a adjusta shade that's almost exactly thelength and width of my grow space.Perfect. I've made c lone/mother set up elsewhere, so it's designated and ready. Apart from the 1200mm sq flood table I scored at the dump for ten bux, last week (when going back ou tthere to se if I could fin…

No news i suppose that I'm trying to workj out the best way to go with my small space, and while workin git out, am likley to use a soil-less mix to at least kick off some seeds here to eventually have the mother and clones for the system I will build. Now, I was thinking I'd use coco coir and hand water, might be easier than making a mix 4etc. That's when the bloke on the telephono from the hydro shop says (he's only just joined the hydro scene himself, so was only limited in advice) he's doing his first hydro grow, and is using the coco, but rather than hand water, is using what he called "water pots". I realised these are the do wa ditties I saw for sale a while back…

Hey I was just wondering what EC yous mix your Flores to? I thought following the instructions on the bottle would be the best way to mix the nutes but have recently been advised that I should lower my EC to about 1.4- 1.5? I have recently started flowering my plants and thought I'd give er a go at the low EC... I can already notice a little 'leaf burn' so am going to make up a slightly stronger solution of about 1.9 EC. I'm growing in clay balls, nearly a week into flower... Just Curios, Cheers

Hey there, just dragging out the bits and peices of equipment I have been sensible enough to hang onto, and I'm just wondering how to check if my truncheon is still ok? I always rinsed it religously when I used it, I took the batteries out when I stored it, and just now cleaned the sensors the way i read someone mention to do so in a thread the other day. I.e. gently with some creame cleanser. I havea roll of litmus tape, so I can check my PH meter against that , but what about the truncheon? i just tested some tap water and it was about 200, but I guess that's a variable, but sounds familair. Imean I'd just buy another one, but I'm dreadfully broke and wil lhave to g…
