Hi guys, I just got my new 200mm Westaflex fan today ......cant believe how much better it is than my old shitty 150mm inline ( thanks for the recommendation jimbo!)....the place was starting to smell up and the odorsok certainly wasn't working with the old fan ...while I am very happy with the airflow the fan itself is noisy!, can hear it from the next bedroom, I have fitted it out with acoustic ducting which made a bit of a difference but I was thinking of trying to muffle the fan further by wrapping some towels or foam around the fan itself....any ideas guys??.....hopefully nothing too expensive

Hey guys, ive started a grow diary, black pearl vs Purple diesel, but i have encountered a problem. I know humidity has been covered many times however after reading the majority of the posts i have yet to stumble on one pertaining to me. Basically my humidity is stuck around 25% and I cant seem to raise it without taking the temperature up aswell. My setup is a 1.6 by .9 by .5 m grow tent with a 600 W MH globe. The globe is sitting at the top of the tent as far away from the plants as possible. I have a 2*6 inch exhaust fans, one sucking, one blowing and a basic computer fan airing the plants. I have tried the wet towel, the spraying bottom of tent, a steam vaporiser a…

I been looking around the free trade sites (alibaba, diytrade) and there seems to be alot of digital ballasts coming out. Has anyone tried em or know anything? I stumbled across a manufacturer who says they make the ballasts for Quantum in the states. I had a look and if there not its a good rip off (but thats wot they do right). Anyway all these chinese manufacturers have the new dimming ballasts with 2 - 3year warranties. I was going to buy a 600 lumatek but then i thought I could try one of these, buy a 1000 and with the dimming i can run it at 600W - 2 ballasts for the price of 1! They all price around 50 - 70USD for 600W digitals and 120 - 135USD for a 10…

G'day all, Just slowly getting back into my favourite hobby again and I went to get some 48w Compact fluros tonight when I see bunnings have 6500k philips 65w CFs for $31 bux! Fuck yea. 6500k (cool white) is a good spectrum for vegging if i remember correctly?? On the side of the box it says spectrum between 2300k and 6500k and on the front 6500k... Has anyone used these before? They look like the fucken goods.. Im gonna get a 35cm~ china mans hate style shade for $7, lamp holder $4.50 and 3m cord $5.50 so for $48 bux you get a 65w cf setup.... Last time I checked the hydro shop wanted $150 or some bs for a 130w CF... Id rather 3 of these setups. Anyone else done …

Hey guys, I have a basement that has a hole in the wall for access to underneath the house. I've been in there doing a bit of digging and have created the perfect spot for a little 2 plant grow. I live with my parents so this has to be an ultra stealthy set up, smell and sound wise. One of the walls of my chamber is the outside wall of the house, which is double brick. I removed a bit of rubble from this small opening that was blocked up and am now able to get my arm into the cavity between the two walls. Convieniently there happens to be one of those old cement vents (about 17 x 12 cm in size) on the outside wall pretty much opposite my opening. So my post (sorry bi…

I would like to only here from growers that have used this led light for their grows.Would you guys recomend this led light for growing cannabis or is it better for veges and stuff? Im also wondering how many plants max this could be used for and also when the plant gets taller would it be supplying enough light to the lower part of the plant for bud growth. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. You can see the description at aussieponics.com

Mylar tape

many years ago we used to use whitewash inside the growroom because of dual purpose: 1) it had better reflectivity than alternatives 1) the lime lessened fungal growth and I was told (by someone supposed to know) that reflectivity was better than any of the metallic or 'mirror' surfaces. Seems times have changed and various alternatives are now available. I guess size is a factor, I wouldn't want to be coating the interior of a 24*12 garage with 2" tape :-) But then, this time around I'm looking more to a couple of cubic meters, not much more than a few square meters of surface needs to reflect. Is Mylar the bee's knees or are there other alternatives to consider?

I just baught a small closet to start a grow box. But im on a tight budget so i have to cut back on most of my materials. my closet is about 3ftL/5ftH/2ftD. I cant afford to get a good grow light, i can only afford to use fluros at the moment. I was wandering whether fluros can produce enough light to produce decent BUD. Or whether i am better off just waiting a while till i can afford better Lighting.

Hi, I'm new around here. Thinking about growing a plant or two on a tight budget. I've grown before with an HPS lamp. Keen to try CFL and after a little research I found this: http://www.commercialelectric.com.au/CEWL2...Work_Light.html Bunnings has these for $65 that's 130W of fluoro that you just have to plug in. No need to buy or make reflectors and fittings. I think it said cool white on the box but nothing about colour temp, so I'm guessing maybe 4000K. You could even use the stand to raise 'em up as the plants get bigger. What do you think, is it worth giving them a go?

Yesterday i went to look at some lighting and was overwhelmed by the cost of lighting from my local hydroponics store, so on my way home i stopped by an aquariums wholesaler and looked at some lighting there, i found a setup of two T-5 fluro bulbs 54w a piece which run at 10000kelvins. they are used growth on coral in saltwater tanks, would this be a sufficient light source? thanks for your help

Hey guys Was looking at bunnings the other day, and the have these bathroom fans that are centrifugal and claim to move 200m3/hour out of a 4 inch duct-hole. looks similar to that http://www.universalfans.com.au/univ_images/exh_03_ceiling/pop_ups/Exhaust_body.gif Want to run this just as a cooltube exhaust, with the total length being no more than 2m at the absolute maximum. Im choosing this cause its cheap, easy to install, VERY QUIET and readily available. Any thoughts?

Just a small 'personal space', 2 actually. I took some cuttings and threw them in some dirt. Of seven cuttings, in a pot of dirt in a cupboard, 2 have taken well, 1 took a while but looks to be coming along and 1 seems to be barely hanging in but viable. (I just don't get why people think such is hard, but I digress) The idea is to have 'Area 1' for clone/veg (18/6) and 'Area 2' for bud (12/12). Not really interested in overcomplicating things with nute solutions, fancy mediums and such, been there _many_ years ago, reasonably successfully. More interested in (basically) dirt in a pot. Veg the cuttings for a bit then swap them to the other chamber. I reckon the 2'…
