It's a bit of a shock, but Steve Kubby and his family have been denied political asylum in Canada. If you haven't been following his plight, Steve was instrumental in California's 215 legislation allowing medicinal marijuana. He fled the United States when it became clear he could not use his medicine from within prison. Steve has a rare form of adrenal cancer, no-one has ever lasted as long as he has, and he has dozens of doctors and researchers backing him up that it's the cannabis. Testimony during the hearings made it very clear that if he returned to California he would be jailed, and denied his medicine, but Canada's Immigration Hearing found that Steve: "did…

Source: http://www.medicalmarihuana.ca/death.html Sunday, November 2, 2003 by James Gordon from The Ottawa Citizen A local Canadian activist has died. Don Appleby was legally allowed to smoke marijuana to help with his AIDS. He apparently blew himself up while attempting to extract THC with butane. Don Appleby died of his injuries suffered in an Oct. 12 explosion while he was trying to make a concentrated oil using marijuana and butane. Don Appleby's fight against the aids virus that was sapping him was made more difficult by a tragic paradox. While the Ottawa man was one of the few Canadians who could legally smoke marijuana for medicinal purposes, he could rarel…

GOOSE CREEK--As police struggled to calm a growing firestorm over their drug raid at Stratford High School, state investigators Friday began probing why officers charged into a crowded hallway with guns drawn while students cowered in fear. After watching a surveillance videotape of the Wednesday raid, Solicitor Ralph Hoisington asked the State Law Enforcement Division to look into possible police misconduct in the operation. He called for the probe after consulting with Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt. "I don't think there's anything wrong at all with law enforcement addressing a problem in a high school, but I have serious concerns about the need for restrainin…

Anyone see the crap that they pulled in the USa, the "land of the free" () the other day? Full scale drug raids, with cops holding guns on school children, terrorising them, as they searched their bags and lockers. The kids fell to the ground, were made to lay with their hands out, as if they had commited a crime, and scared them shitless. How much dope did the cops find? None. The cops reckon they did nothing over the top. And the principle says he saw nothing wrong with what they did. It seems that the land of the free, the centre of western civilastion, the leader of the free world, and other self proclaimed bullshit names; finds no offence in menacing children…

Cannabis link to schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia by cannabis new myth. by our reporter Koen van Eijk. Castricum - During the 1930´s, you would ´become homophilia´ from cocaine use. In the 1970´s, schizophrenia was caused by failing parenting by the mother. It all turned out to be a hoax. Again, a new medical myth appears to be born: Now you become schozophrenic from hash and weed. Psychiatrist Daniel van Dijk was surprised when he heard the news last week: The use of hash and weed, cannabis, would be the cause of 200 more schzophrenia patients in the Netherlands each year. The media reported this on basis of a Trimbos-Institute research. According to Trimbos, even people without genetical indication…

In the quiet countryside just outside Vancouver, B.C. an ambitious young entrepreneur surveys a blindingly bright room filled with lovely plants--dozens of stalks of high-power marijuana. Almost ready for harvest, they hold threadlike, resin-frosted pot flowers, rust-and-white "buds" thickening in a base of green-and-purple leaves. The room reeks of citrus and menthol, a drug-rich musk lingering on fingertips and clothes. "There's no way I won't make a million dollars," says the entrepreneur, David (one-name sources throughout this story are pseudonymous). He runs several other sites like this one, reaping upwards of $80,000 in a ten-week cycle. Says he: "Even if they …

Justice Minister Donner demands Dutch coffeeshops to discriminate. Dutch coffeeshops have been popular since they opened, in the early seventies, and not only with the local population, they have also been frequented by foreigners from all parts of the world, from the day the first coffeeshop opened. The first dealer in Amsterdam’s first coffeeshop, the Mellow yellow, was a Briton, serving hash and grass for years, to an international public, in the heydays of the hippie era. Amsterdam was and is the Mecca of Marihuana, with about 200 of Holland’s 800 coffeeshops within its city limits, for every cannabis user of the world, from Iceland to New Caledonia. Many millions o…

by Pete Brady (21 Oct, 2003) Emery and Canadian MJ Business to be Featured in Forbes Magazine Marc applauded again for his business sense and philanthropy. In 1996, journalist Quentin Hardy put Marc Emery on the front page of the prestigious Wall Street Journal newspaper. The article rightfully credited Emery with creating the entire retail marijuana seed industry, and lauded him for being a philanthropist. Since then, and under Emery's leadership and guidance, Canada's pot culture has blossomed into a powerful political and cultural movement. Hardy never forgot Emery, and has kept in touch with him over the years. These days, Hardy is even a more influential j…

A Cibola County homeowner returned to her house after living out of state for several years, expecting to find the house as she had left it. Instead she found that someone had invaded her house, changed the locks, reactivated her electricity, and started-up a marijuana plantation. Now State Police are searching for the person suspected of starting the drug operation in the empty home, which is located on the south end of Blue Water Lake State Park. The homeowner recalled to KRQE News 13 how she explored her invaded home with amazement. She says the people who commandeered the home cultivated tall bushes around the property for privacy, had a new electrical meter in…

Potheads told to butt out But court aids medicinal use By SAM PAZZANO, COURTS BUREAU Ontario's highest court has ended the province's reefer madness. In a landmark decision released yesterday, the Court of Appeal ended a two-year period where it was legal to possess personal amounts of weed. But medicinal pot users won freer access to marijuana, lawyer Alan Young said. Young, Paul Burstein, Leora Shemesh and other lawyers represented ill people who successfully challenged Canada's medicinal marijuana regulations because they were forced to buy pot on the black market. FIX REGULATIONS In January, a Superior Court judge struck down the regulations as…
