Police seize high-potency marijuana, arrest 2 men By Barbara Boyer INQUIRER STAFF WRITER A potent type of marijuana known as AK47 - so strong that some users are treated in emergency rooms for overdoses - has hit the Philadelphia area. Just a little FYI... This past week there has been an unbelievable Winter Storm here in Ontario, Canada and yet ANOTHER one expected for this weekend. As many of you are aware, this weather has a great effect on me and makes the pain in my face and head EXCRUCIATING. This is where I have been sitting for almost two weeks now. The pain has settled in my left ear this past week and there is NOTHING I can so about it they tell me but grin and bare it. It is DEBILITATING! I cut down my Grow this week and got four ounces. I knew we were in for trouble but I didn't realize just how much until we cut down. The room was too hot and nothing would grow again. Nothing we co…

Where opium poppies used to colour the plains of northern Afghanistan, towering cannabis plants now sway in the wind, filling the air with their pungent odour. Farmers in Balkh province were banned from cultivating opium last year and have switched to another cash crop, a rich source of income that is still tolerated by the authorities. Balkh's burgeoning hashish industry does not pay farmers quite as much as the heroin factories used to for good-quality opium. But the rich black cannabis resin produced around the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif still pays about four times the price…

Hi everybody This week once more, I would like to bring your attention to the Canadian Courts. There have been three very important cases from across the Country that have made headlines because of their connection to cannabis. One out in Vancouver, British Columbia involving the Victoria Island Compassion Society and two of their growers who were charged with trafficking cannabis is just tragic. Part way through the Trial the Judge involved died of a heart attack! Now the VICS has a much bigger problem on their hands I'm afraid. Our Conservative Government seems to rear it's ugly head again. here is what the UN has to say about marijuana: in short that reads if you want cannabis to be legally grown in your country, you have to treat it like opium unless you are growing hemp in which case you can grow as much as you want. but point number 3 blows all that out of the water because it says you have to adopt measures that will decrease the mis-use and illegal traffic in the leaves of the cannabis plant. now why leaf is so special i'll never know, but as point 1 says you have to treat cannabis exactly the same as opium so here is what the UN has to say about growing opium: so if a nation were to make it possible to legally grow your own, it would be requ…

Colorado -- A Fort Collins couple and their lawyer plan to visit the Larimer County sheriff's office Wednesday in hopes of recovering 39 marijuana plants seized by narcotics officers during a raid at their home in August 2006. A Larimer County District Court Judge ruled Monday that authorities must return the plants and growing equipment taken from James and Lisa Masters. Their lawyer described them as medical marijuana providers for themselves and about 8 to 10 other people. Brian Vincente, lawyer for the couple, hopes authorities have taken care of the plants as provided by the state's medical marijuana law, which was approved by voters in 2000. "If they've allowe…

Friday, November 23, 2007 Harper's misguided war on pot Editorial The National Post We are glad to see the Conservative government using the excess lifespan donated by Her Majesty's Opposition to get tough on crime. But was it really necessary to include victimless acts among the list of crimes being targeted? Justice Minister Rob Nicholson's new package of mandatory sentences for marijuana dealers, announced on Tuesday, seems to involve some perverse incentives. Under the bill, a grower who is caught with between one and 200 plants and is found to have the intention of trafficking will receive a non-negotiable minimum of six months in prison, unless he can show t…

A compound found in cannabis may prove to be effective at helping stop the spread of breast cancer cells throughout the body. The study, by scientists at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, is raising hope that CBD, a compound found in Cannabis sativa, could be the first non-toxic agent to show promise in treating metastatic forms of breast cancer. “Right now we have a limited range of options in treating aggressive forms of cancer,” says Sean D. McAllister, Ph.D., a cancer researcher at CPMCRI and the lead author of the study. “Those treatments, such as chemotherapy, can be effective but they can also be extremely toxic and…
