Two people have been charged after detectives seized more than 100 kilograms of cannabis in Canberra last night. Police found the hydroponically-grown drugs in an Isabella Plains house. Australian Federal Police (AFP) spokesman Sandy Logan says $22,500, suspected of being proceeds of crime, was also recovered. A man who grew 15 cannabis plants through a hydroponic operation at his home in Canberra has escaped conviction by an ACT Supreme Court. Police discovered the plants when they raided Guy Terance Hawksley's home in Turner in October 2003. Today the court heard he used the drug to treat pain from a back injury sustained when he was training to become an elite rower. The head of a police operation targeting anti-social behaviour in parts of New South Wales has warned there will be more large-scale operations similiar to one conducted on the weekend. More than 800 people were arrested in Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle over three days as part of what is known as Operation Vikings. New South Wales police have discovered cannabis with an estimated street value of $1.25 million at a house at Albion Park Rail, south of Wollongong. Police say they were called to the house on the Princes Highway about 9:45pm (AEST) after reports of a fire. They say the fire was put out and about 500 cannabis plants were found throughout the house in a hydroponic set-up. New South Wales police have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of more than $2 million from a house in the Sydney's south-west. There was no one home at the Yagoona residence when police executed a search warrant. An elaborate hydroponic set-up was found at the scene. Police say they found 382 cannabis plants worth an estimated $2,000 each, as well as 25 kilograms of cannabis leaf, worth an estimated $1.5 million. Police are yet to make any arrests. POLICE have seized 60 cannabis plants and hydroponic growing equipment following a raid on a rural property near Castlemaine yesterday. Detectives from the Major Drug Investigations Unit executed a search warrant on the Hoinsville Road property in Elphinstone about 8.20am. The NSW Government has released details about a new cannabis treatment clinic to be opened in Orange within months. The centre will service 200 face-to-face clients every year.
