POLICE have seized 90 cannabis plants and more than $16,000 cash after a search warrant was carried out at a home in Carine yesterday. A Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant was executed on the Guinevere Way home yesterday. Police spokesman Samuel Dinnison said police at the scene allegedly came across an “elaborate hydroponic set up†in the home which took up two rooms in the house. Proceeds of Crime Squad Detectives have put a “freeze notice†on the $16,000 cash and the property. A 60-year-old man has been charged over the haul and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow. Taken from Perth Now.

Several thousand plants were growing among native vegetation at Peebinga near Pinnaroo S.A. Some plants were 1.5 metres high. Charges have been laid against a Highbury man, 72, another from Thebarton, 49, and a third man, 54, from Virginia. Superintendent Ian Parrott said a sophisticated dripper system was being used to water the plants from a bore on the land. "The size of this crop demonstrates the highly-organised nature of illicit drug cultivation and represents the most significant seizure of cannabis in SA in recent years," he said. "What is also concerning is the theft and misuse of water associated with illegal cannabis cultivation. "In times of water …

From ninemsn I fail to see how this is in the public interest? All it does is help keep prices high for organised crime gangs to profit from. Money they use to finance the importing of truly addictive and dangerous drugs into Australia like heroin. I read this article to say $21.7 million of crime gang markets protected by Nick Bingham and the NSW Police. This work only benefits organised crime gangs is the reality, it is not for the greater good of the community. A thick skin shouldn't = a thick head as well? Wake up and see the damage you are really doing to the comunity please? For the greater good of the community. Peace MM

A 49-year-old Nowra man was stopped as he drove his car through the Wollongong suburb of Berkeley shortly after midnight on Friday, police say. Police searched the car and allegedly discovered 14kg of cannabis in the boot. A small quantity of amphetamines was also allegedly seized. Acting on information, police stopped a second car and allegedly seized a further 478g of cannabis. Well, I'm sure many of you guys and gals have heard and seen on the news the recent mid-north coast nsw drug operation. Have a gander: http://www.dailytele...i-1225998352161 I see, that is a very logical goal to aim for! Any other bright ideas how you can hurt the pockets of the honest men/women of Australia more?! (hint the sarcasm) To me that is just recognition that prohibition is not and will not ever work. I died a bit on the inside when watching all the healthy crops been ripped out and I'm sure many others did too. Cheers.

While the rest of the world got to enjoy healthy hemp food over the holidays here in Australia unfortunately we still suffer from some ridiculously ludicrous laws, regarding hemp food products in particular losing millions in an untapped health food market that is already thriving everywhere else in the world. In 2002, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand ruled hemp was safe for human consumption, but Australia's state and federal health ministers overturned the ruling in their infinite wisdom costing Australian hemp farmers millions of dollars, and depriving Australians access to highly nutritious healthy hemp food products just waiting to be produced by the hemp bus…

http://www.northernstar.com.au/story/2010/12/16/medical-cannabis-pioneer-tony-bower-queensland/ MEDICINAL cannabis pioneer Tony Bower says he is fed up with bureaucratic stonewalling in NSW and will move his increasingly popular dispensary to Queensland. Mr Bower founded Mullaway’s Medical Cannabis after developing a way to access the healing qualities of cannabis without the notorious side-effects, offering welcome relief to people suffering chronic pain and terminal illness. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of people on the North Coast who previously struggled with the often debilitating side-effects of prescription painkillers have attributed significant relief …

Director's Guidelines - Queensland Office of Director of Public Prosecutions http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0015/16701/Directors-guidelines.pdf THE DECISION TO PROSECUTE - Page 2 The prosecution process should be initiated or continued wherever it appears to be in the public interest. That is the prosecution policy of the prosecuting authorities in this country and in England and Wales. If it is not in the interests of the public that a prosecution should be initiated or continued then it should not be pursued. The scarce resources available for prosecution should be used to pursue, with appropriate vigour, cases worthy of prosecution and not waste…
