Police use thermal imaging to uncover cannabis factories Thermal imaging cameras are being used by police to reveal homes concealing secret cannabis factories. The hand-held equipment detects the extreme heat created by lighting systems used in the intensive rearing of marijuana plants. Properties where cannabis is being grown will release up to 10 times the amount of heat of an average family home. Police said the crop from just one house can be worth more than £70,000. MARIJUANA plants with a potential street value of $1.463 million were seized by police during a four-day operation on the state's Mid North Coast last week. Officers spent four days removing plants as high as six metres growing on Crown and private land at Kendall, Comboyne, Lower creek, Bowraville, Missbotti, Taylors Arm and Newee Creek. During the operation named Strike Force Lush officers from the Drug Squad and Mid North Coast Local Area Command, with assistance of Polair and the Dog Unit, seized 718 cannabis plants. Just a quick snippet of news that was in the Sunday paper. A guy on the outskirts of Townsville was caught with 70 plants ranging from 1m - 2m tall and were just started to bud (some had already started). Value is estimated at being over 1.3 million dollars. The police raided the property after a TIPOFF (FCK'ing DOGS) last week. TEENAGERS who use cannabis are up to 10 times more likely to develop serious mental illness than those who do not, latest research shows. British scientists have found the drug can cause permanent physical changes to the still-growing brain. That can lead to psychosis and schizophrenia in those worst affected.
