Does anybody find that when the nutriant is mixed in the resvoir to manufacturers spec. the ec comes up to aprox5.5 when it reccomends on the bottle itself an ec of 1.5 the nute i am using is ionic grow, reccomended dosage 7ml per liter, i would be intrested to know if anyone else had similar results, or if my ec meter is on the fritz, if its not which do you go by, the reccomended ec written on the bottle or reccomended dose written on bottle, cos there is a huge difference between the two any feedback greatly appreciated

Hey Guys, Awhile ago I came across a table on this site that indicates which trace elements become locked out depending on level of pH. From memory there was some discussion on increasing pH levels towards the end of the cycle in order to block the plants uptake of specific elements to encourage resin production [matter of opinion]. If anyone knows what im on about and knows where to find it can you pass it on? - ive been searching for close to an hour now and as much as i love getting sidetracked on other threads im really keen to check out and test the theory. thanks in advance JC

I thought you peeps may find this interesting. Advanced Nutrients has been taking a hammering of late. Sunlight Supplies AKA National Garden Wholesale has told shops in the US that they will stop supplying them ballasts and other goods if they stock Advanced Nutrients. Sunlight Supply have major power in the US and could easily bankrupt stores by ceasing to supply them so Advanced Nutrients is in a bit of strife. Seems a lot of US hydroponic industry people have had a gutsful of Advanced Nutrients and their mj specific advertising which endangers stores, storeowners and their customers in the US. Now Big Mike from AN has released this (I can't help thinking its to cover …

Hello, First time indoor grower, just growing in soil in potting containers suspended over a tray to catch the extra water. Nothing fancy. The first plant is about a week and a half old, and is just starting to produce the serrated leaves between the seedling leaves. My question is when should I fertilise with veg nutes? I've read a number of threads which advise to add nutes at 2-3 weeks but these are hydro setups. Does the same recommendation apply in this circumstance? Also, should i wait till the plant gets a bit bigger before adding nutes? Regards,

Dear All, Hey Canna Nation the is my first post so I'll introduce myself I'm not a grower I'm a chemist/agronomist I'm head of the research department for a leading brand of paclobutrazol. Paclo is registered for use with mango, apple, pear, rambutan and some others in Australia. It is very mildly toxic but has a strong degradation curve i.e. it breaks down quite quickly so 21-30 days is required to get the residues down to a negligible level. It’s no secret that the vast majority of the commercial mango and avocado etc. (high value fruits) use paclobutrazol to reduce the canopy and increase the fruit number quality and size. Superbud has Alar which is toxic and is …

Throwing some questions into the ring. Please discuss... How long does coco fibre hold its stuctural integrity? ei How soon does it get too dusty? Does any one have a technique for separating dust out of the medium? Are there any ferts or minerals that build up longer term that cant be removed by flushing and have a detrimental effect ? When should you call it quits on reusing the same coco? What else do ya reckon? I'm really still a little inexperienced to hold ant firm opinions yet and am all ears. Thanks

This will be my first time growing and Ive decided to use a hydroponic grow medium rather then soil. Which grow mediums are preferred? I'm assuming that by using a medium i will have to feed the plant with nutrients. Do i mix the nutrients in with my watering system? How often do plants need water and nutrients? Sorry if they seam like silly questions im still trying to get my head around the idea. Peace

I would like to take credit for this but credit is due where credit is due. i obtained this info from the Incitec website (although it obtains to agriculture on a large scale, the plant basics and nutrient requirements are basically the same) Feel free to move this to the appropriate section if you feel it isnt in the right place. Nitrogen Nitrogen in soils Nearly all the Nitrogen in the soil orginates from the atmosphere, which is made up of about 80% nitrogen, The Rocks and minerals from which soils are formed do not contain nitrogen, Most of the nitrogen present in the soil is in the form of organic matter. Organic Nitrogen is however not available for plant uptake…

Just dug a new plot deep in the jungle, problem is the soil is not the best, its a bit clay like. Im used to growing in rich soils and pots that have no need for added nutrients and mediums. Should i use some organic soil activator such as humus, along with a clay breaker or would the humus be enough with some added premium soil mix. Or is there something better i could do?
