Hey all, I am designing a new growroom. Ill be ditching the 250w hps in favour of a pair of 400w hps. Im also looking at getting a light rail. From what I understand, because a light rail is moving, the lights can be put closer to the plants without burning them & help give you a bigger yield, due to covering a larger footprint. Id rather do 1 decent grow a year rather than constantly growing to keep up with my smoking...... Ill be growing in nsw, I believe the law considers a person with 5 plants a commercial grower ( ???? ), so I plan to grow 4. The footprint Im looking at using is about 6 ft square & about 7 ft tall. So Ill have 3 sq ft for each plant…

NFT Culture

The system of Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) was originally designed and developed by Dr Allen Cooper. The concept is described by Dr Cooper as follows: " A very shallow stream of water containing all the dissolved nutrients required for growth is recirculated past the bare roots of crop plants in a water tight gully.....Ideally, the depth of the recirculating stream should be very shallow, little more than a film of water - hence the name nutrient film. This ensures that the thick root mat, which develops in the bottom of the gully, has an upper surface which, although moist, is in the air. Consequently, there is an abundant supply of oxygen to the roots of the plants. " …

Aeroponics

he first aeroponic system was developed at the University of Pia in Italy by Dr Franco Massantini, which led to the development of the colonna di coltura. This consisted of an aeroponic pipe supporting three relatively small cultivation trays fitted with sprinklers and covered with polystyrene lids. Although several plant types were grown successully, it proved to be expensive. The system was modified to a vertical layout, whereby crops were cultivated in a multi-layered system. A zinc-coated metal frame supported two, three, four and five vertical levels of channels. Plants were arranged in the channels, covered with dark plastic film to protect plant roots from light.…

My Clone and early-veg setup.
by Guest Eikel- 1 reply

Hi Guys, I've setup the cupboard in my house to provide a good rooting area for clones along with what I call an "Early-Veg" setup. I figure I can take clones, then root them under fluros. After having rooted clones, transfer into initial-grow pots and put them under my 250W MH. After vegging out for a week or 2 I'll: 1. Transfer my teenage plants into new pots and move into my main grow-box in the shed. 2. Veg for another 2 or so weeks take another set of clones 3. Switch into flower. I probably won't be able to keep a continual harvest going, but a semi-perpetual harvest is more than enough for me. Anyway, here's some pics for you to peruse. :smoke
