G'day I'm new here

G'day everyone,

I have been a smoker since the mid 70's, and have no problems with using pot.

I became a Christian a few years ago, but I still enjoy a smoke. I have not found any Bible verse that say's that I shouldn't use dope(except maybe that I should obey the laws of the land).

I've never been to Nimbin, although I do intend to visit there one day.

I think that the Marijuana laws in Australia need to be changed, I think that the law makes pot smokers mix with criminals and heavy drug sellers/users.

I don't believe that Marijuana is the'gateway drug', I believe that Alcohol has that tag(or maybe cigarettes), I blame the ilegality of Marijuana for pot smokers trying other drugs.

I will try to read all the other blogs and leave a comment.

If there are any other Christians here , I would be glad to corespond with you, also will corespond with anyone who want to .

Bye for now Doug :bongon:

Welcome douga57, firstly the bible not only tells us very clearly that every plant bearing seed is for our use and they are blessed by God, as for obeying the law of the land that is providing it does not oppose the laws and ordinance of God, therefore using Cannabis as a Christian is our right as Christians. As for the law of this land we are about to do what we can to remove the single treaty therefore removing the law as they are both in breach of 1. The Australian Constitution 2. Human Rights accords, not to mention the fact that they breach their own laws by not controlling drugs, as they have admitted that they have control of 10% therefore no control of 90% this equals no control.

Keep an eye on the site for both myself and lightning regarding our case there is a great deal of information in there regarding the Christian belief on using after many years of study on this topic.

Again welcome, get to know people and enjoy.

Hi Doug

I just googled it and got shit loads of information on the topic. Below is some relevant stuff.

The Bible does not directly address any form of illicit drug use. There are no express prohibitions against cocaine, heroin, ecstasy (MDMA), or methamphetamines (Meth). There is no mention of marijuana, peyote, magic mushrooms, or acid (LSD). Nothing is said about huffing, snorting, dropping, smoking, shooting, licking, or any other method of ingestion. This is not to say, however, that recreational drug use is permissible. On the contrary, there are several very clear biblical principles that place drug use well outside the realm of acceptable behavior.

To begin with, Christians are under a universal mandate to respect and obey the laws of the land (Deuteronomy 17:2; Ecclesiastes 8:2-5; Matthew 22:21; 23:2-3; Romans 13:1-7; Titus 3:1; 1 Peter 2:13-17; 2 Peter 2:9-11). The ONLY instance in which theyare allowed to disobey the laws of the land is when the laws violate any divine imperatives (Daniel 3 and 6; Acts 5:29). There are no other exceptions to this rule. Contrary to popular belief, simply disagreeing with a law does not constitute a license for breaking that law.
