Looking for Hunter Valley infestation images or video

I'm balls deep in archive research and need some images or video relating to the Hunter Valley cannabis infestation of the 60s (or anything concerning the Weed Raiders).

I had one lead (which I could have properly licensed with funding)... this transcript from a 1997 ABC Quantum show on weed where they interviewed old local farmers but this whole transcribed section is missing from DVD which is a real shame, unless I've got some re-edited edition or whatever.

If anyone has any relevant images or knows of any video - please post them here.

Thanks stoners!

maybe check out an old paper that used to run in the 70's that was called several names because the cops kept harrasing them, the names were ''the weed'' ''the need'' and a few more i cant think of now, they might have a story in them about what your loking for,but i don't know if you will find any around,i had the privilage of checking some out that an old veteran smoker had but he lost them when he moved house,a dam shame, they were lost, great aussie history.

Hey thanks, yeah I've got John's books, no pics of this tho. cheers

Hi bitterman, In "Hemp and The Marijuana Conspiracy, two books in one" (ie The Emeperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer and Hemp & The Marijuana Conspiracy in Australia by John Jiggens) there is a picture towards the end of the book entiltled " The Hunter Valley Crop". It is a black and white photo showing a young man in a shirt and tie standing in a large field of narrow leaved, wild looking pot. It is on page 5 of the John Jiggens section.

Are you aware of this ?

The second post in this thread has a link to the book, but I'll try to scan the photo and upload it to this site when I get the chance. It's a pretty ordinary pic though so don't get you hopes up.

No probs mate.

I've scanned this picture and now have it as a pdf file however I can't work out how to post it here, and it won't let me send you a PM. I think I can only send 1 PM a week or something along those lines, I'll try again later.

The book is well worth getting and very informative. It has a lot of info on the history of the Hunter valley infestation and the weed raiders of that era.

Why do you think that?

Peace MongyMan

Maybe I need to do more reading on the subject - I just figured it was so well-adapted and mutated that it might be a descendent.
