T@@L have been my favourite band for the last few years. About 6 months after first hearing them, i became a diehard fan. My fave cd of all time is lateralus. And the song lateralus has been my favourite song for the last few years. I dig all of their songs and they're one of the best live bands i've seen. Probably the second best live band i've seen, the first being Metallica or the Chili Peppers. Experiencing tool live is like seeing god or something. Maynard James Keenan (the singer/songwriter) is also the singer and songwriter for A Perfect Circle. Alex Jones, the lead guitarist, does most of the stuff for their music videos. Danny Carey, the drummer, is my favourite drummer. He's simply amazing. He has performed rituals with DMT and all. Justin Chancellor is their sweet bass player that used to play for Peach. They're all good painters to. So does anybody dig them? I hope some of you have heard of them.
Here's my top 5 tool songs:
1 Lateralus
2 My Third Eye
3 Eulogy
4 Pushit (Salival version)
5 The Patient
PS - I find that tool is the best music to trip and/or toke to. Same with sphongle.

Tool remain my favourite bang amongst all the various genres and styles I enjoy. It is strange that there are so few of us who prefer Lateralus over Aenima, yet Lateralus is most definitely my favourite album of all time... No other album has consistantly made more and more sense as my mind has expanded and progressed, because there are so many layers. Lateralus on acid is god... :thumbsup
Top 5 Favourite Tracks:
1) Disposition \ Reflection \ Triad (more one piece of music with different movements in my opinion)
2) Third Eye
3) Lateralus
4) H.
5) Pushit (Live Salival Version)
I used to like APC but I am not too fond of 13th Step... and Mer De Noms has some amazingly awesome songs, but alot of mediocre stuff, whilst 13th step had more consistancy but without the peaks. I think all APC achieves is sticking some very talanted musical icons into one project, and expecting each of them to live up to the brilliance achieved in their seperate projects. Maynard to me doesn't seem in his essence with APC, but I respect the opinions of others

i've noticed on different forums that aenima is the fave. but i also noticed that alot of people have now put lateralus in the number one possition. it must have taken them awhile to fully UNDERSTAND (as it did with me). you have a sweet list of faves, but what do you mean by "different movements"? i prefer lateralus on shrooms than to acid. acid is more ideal for aenima for me. i love everything that apc has done and have seen them live. nothing on mer de noms is mediocre, so it must be your perception. 13th step definately had peaks! the song PET for example has a total climax in it. i don't see the musicians of apc doing a triathalon or whatever at all! and i think maynard fits perfectly in there, i just wish tool would hurry up with the new album!

APC kick ass but you can't beat the brutality of honesty in the earlier tool albums.
1.46&2
2.the patient
3.the grudge
4.aenima
5.eulogy
Reasoning behind a few of them is that my first band practically lived off RATM and TooL...it was what unified our music. Oh yeah sorry sidetracked yeah we covered the patient and aenima.Good times. First bass riff i bothered to learn was 46&2.
the grudge is how i feel most of the time.
the patient is how i feel most of the time.

its hard to make sense but if you read those two songs like i did , then you know what i mean ? maybe

.
Oh and eulogy...well eulogy is just perfect. I had a grave stone painted on my old bedroom wall with my tag "ghost" and we will miss him. Painted it right over my bed...got a lil creepy so i moved it.He had alot to say - was painted some where else.
Above my door was "The Nurse Who Loved Me"...as fans you should download the original aswell.(i know its apc im not stupid :thumbdown

)
Anyway thats nuff said from me.
he had a voice that was strong and loud...we'll miss him.

Never really been into APC but have been a huge tool fan for almost 6-7 years now. Seeing them live was a full-on experience, I can't wait to see them again.
Aenima will always be my favourite, just because I heard it first I guess, it really captured me... and also because I have been listening to it since I was 16. And every time I put it on, it's just as good as the first time I heard it
They are my favourite band who are still alive!

love tool, here i was thinking i was one of the few.
now for my opinion, flame throwers at the ready ladies and gents.
i think APC are far to derivitive of tool, (yes i know maynard is the lead for both)
but it seems like he just put all of the crap parts of tool into one spot, went far to arty and wankerish with it im afraid.
now, as for best tool album and song.
well lateralis is good, but nothing on aenima, (how many of you guys have had stoned arguments on the pronounciation of that??)
best songs are probably h, 46&2, eulogy (yougooglie if your zoolander) and well most of the rest of the album.
very intense sounds, very talented musicians, very good music.
anyways thats my bit, your all welcome to your own :thumbsup

What i love about tool, is their absolute abient sound. At all times they have it, and it just sounds so out there and spacey i dunno how to describe it.
I dont really have favourite songs, i love it all, but one that stands out to me is
Ticks and Leeches
Just love their sound....

Fuck yeah, glad to see there are a decent amount of Tool fans here. I love these bastards, Danny Carey is the God of Drumming imo. And Maynard just, you know . . . awesome
Tool is, I'll say one of my favourite bands, because I can't decide between my top bands heh. Loved them since about grade 10/11 or something. Saw them live at Big Day Out at the Gold Coast this year, 2nd row fuck yeah, I was gripping that d-barrier like a frikkin pit bull, wasn't giving my spot away and oh was it ever so worth it.
My favourite album would have to be Opiate (shocked anyone? I don't think I've met a Tool fan who hasn't put Opiate as their least favourite haha). I don't know why, I just love it. Followed by Aenima, Lateralus, Undertow then 10,000 Days (wasn't particularly impressed with 10,000 Days, didn't do it for me like the others.)
Favourite songs include (not necessarily in order):
H.
Jerk-off
Sober
Hush
Eulogy
Lateralus
Ticks and Leeches
Forty-six & 2
And man are they the best tripping out music ever.

hell yeah i love tool. also an apc fan, but i think tool has to take the cake for me. i think lateralus is my favourite album. just the way the songs progress and seem to paint a picture in your head that keeps changing. amazing band and also very talented. sure some of jones's solos seem a bit average, but his rythm work is hell awesome, as is maynards vocals, and of course dannys amazing drumming. gotta love his bongo work especially haha. so many tool fans out there, but its cool to always meet new ones all the same for sure
