@ LS
I agree we should kill bill, but seriusly yeah it was a good movie the gore was funny it looked like a shower head was spraying blood during the decapitation scenes and there are a few heads that go flying, and also the amount of blood that is lost is just completely over the top if you consider the blood vol=5L, but i agree it was a goodmovie and this was the intended effect IMO, I could name a dozen films that are worse eg priv. ryan, full metal jacket (suicide) the list goes on these are much more realistic and therefore don't make me

, the twist/cliffhanger at the end is great can't wait for vol2

I don't know about labelling it 'a classic' with the likes of Pulp Fiction, but Kill Bill was a very good movie. I really enjoyed it and wouldn't mind seeing it again...also can't wait for Vol.2 to come out and see her continue her path of revenge and gratituous blood-spilling!!

Kill Bill felt like an extended TVC to me - very slick and very, very self-conscious (ie. you could practically see Quentin in each shot). Was there a story ? Not much of one but then they filmed the original script into two movies (everybody's doing it these days = more box-office $). If your idea of entertainment is seeing blood spray why not spend a morning at a slaughterhouse? All the fights were cut like pop clips - any Hong Kong produced beat-em-up of the last two decades would at least try to cover major fights in one take (Bruce Lee was remarkably like Fred Astaire in this regard). Sure, Kill Bill had impecable production values (those millions count after all) but I don't think it's depiction of women is doing anyone, male or female, any favours. Why are we all so excited by the idea of the perfect killing machine ? Why so much effort spent glorifying the worst that humans are capable of ? Wasn't Uma's character part of the murderous clan she's now bumping off ? So what's up her ass ? Somebody shot her, killed her baby ? Boo hoo. My partner is currently pregnant and I'd rip aprt anyone who threatened her but, really, as a plot catalyst here it's all a bit ho-hum. Hollywood continues to glorify brutality and destruction - it's all good drama we're told. Bollocks. Destruction is the easiest thing in the world - ask anyone creative. I wouldn't pay to see this film - I don't want to encourage more like it. I saw a DVD rip - I figure they can affort to shout me on this one.
Sorry about the rant but I am sick of this stupid, murderous shit from the USA we're sold as entertainment..
Oh, I think Tarantino is a good writer and director - he's just a boy who grew up in a brutal nation.

Animation was by the japanese company Production I.G. who co-animated Ghost in the Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion. More recently they did Ghost: The Last Vampire which is pretty amazing stuff.

I thought Kill Bill was deathly boring and self indulgent. The best bits were the animated bit in the middle and the gushing stumps but the rest of it was boring. I actually fell asleep somewhere near the middle of this movie. It was a waste of time seeing it, I don't have much time for mainstream cinema these days.

Kill Bill was and is one of the greatest tarantino flicks of all time. I'm sorry for all those geeks who don't think the story adds up or that it was to bloody. The story is not an issue. It's a torrential downpoar of arterial spray from start to finish; the 20 minute massacre scene at the end is pure blood spattered poetry. Flashes of white light monocrome, chapters painted in exquisite japanese anime and silhouetted ballets of utter mayhem: kill bill is as stylisticly beautiful as it is verbally uncompromising. And violent. So violent

Taranteeno films are all about messed up and out of place plots , it is the uniqueness that makes them stand out , I actually thought that kill bill was pretty tamed for taranteeno but still a fantastic film none the less, the seccond one is good aswell but I can't say that it was as good as the first

I reckon the best movies i have seen were faithful adaptations of Stephen King stories i.e. Shawshank redemption, The Green Mile. I walked out of the cinema moved by the experience of a story well told. I was also able to relate to the characters as human beings with flaws and emotions. The only thing Tarantinos movies move me to is a bowel movement. His characters all appear to be comic book killing machines. On a personal level Im afraid I find the trend towards extreme shocking repetitive violence in movies quite intellectually vacuous and distasteful.
Tarantino is good at making his movies appeal to a young affluent audience but in no way would i consider him an artist, just a good salesman. And unfortunately our society seems to be buying it.
