any other DK fans out there? tongue.gif
white_cluster
As a young cunt I listened to alot of old punk stuff, not so much the Dead Kennedys but more Crass, Discharge, Conflict, Flux of Pink Indians, etc... even got a mohawk for a while there. kinda phased out over time as I got into heavier shit, but I still like alot of crust grind bands, Los Crudos are one of my fave bands ever, and napalm death, agathocles, his hero is gone, discordance axis, brutal truth, benumb, etc... that is the punk shit I get into.

Got my first taste of Giger art through that fucking penis landscape in frankenchrist though, that was on my wall for a long time. I saw Jello Biafra talking at livid and playing with nomeansno, he was a wanker.
FUCKOFFWANKERS
fuck yer man DK are fuking sick i like old shit like that and OI but.......no one will ever be as good as the Ramones biggrin.gif
wade ounce

WP
FUCKOFFWANKERS
any of use still go to local gigs??...i do biggrin.gif
white_cluster
yeah I go watch the band at the pub here that plays endless copperhead road, Born to be wild covers, the redneck fuckwits or whatever they are called tongue.gif ...... nah man, I cant go to places like that. too far. Used to get into alot of the aussie shit though, are Price of Silence and Gacys Place still around??

But when I was like 14-15 I had a punk band, called "the fuckshits", we were even worse than the name sounds. played a punk version of iron man and burn em down by the abrasive wheels and that was it I think.
no sessions are better than them sessions as a kid when you used to say you were gonna practice with your band but end up getting stoned and just talking about how cool it'll be when your famous.
weekprik
what instruments do you or others play?

I play the guitar myself, well im learning too anyways, so far I can make 3 chords and a power chord laugh.gif,

WP
wade ounce

I just brought a guitar and amp package outta the trading post, costs me like 200 or something,

Its just a 6 string electric, Its fun tho eh,
I too thought of giving bass a try, its seems a little easier??
Gruntus
if you're in Adelaide check out The Ramonettes (sort of punk meets girls band I think). They play live frequently at pubs. Download their mp3 tracks at www.ramonettes.com tongue.gif
budsta
you guys are a blast from the past...
Fresh fruit - remember it well I was about 15 when that camre out so I reckon about 1980 release? California Uber Alles - Holliday in Cambodia- love it, can remember the poster that came with the vynil album - still relevant today - my 10 year old boy is into DK - on a Tony Hawkes playstaion game - they are still going - Jello Biafro is a long lasting dude!
I was heavily into Crass too - I met Crass years ago in their Epping Forest home - whatever happened to them? FUCK THE POLITICALLY MINDED & other such gems 621984 - ah they don't make music like that anymore do they, ha ha! Their free anarchist politics still make sense to me!
I am a frustrated middle aged reggae dub punk - still play the bass & my 8 year old plays the guitar (fukkin well too) - we are the Aussie Musical Youth - "pass the dutchie to the left hand side dad!"
Boy I feel old!!!

Crass - Steve Rimbauld etc etc - what a socio economic phenominum - I still think they were on the right fukkin track with regards to politics / anti - politics. Has the world gone backwardssince then or is it just me? Old stoned punks unite - you have nothing to loose anymore - it's all fuckin gone!
wade ounce
yep we're a dying breed .i think our generation was the last one to be born with the mongrel go fuck yourself gene.
but when i look at my kids i'm sort of glad of that. imagine if they tried getting away with the thing we did as kids. FARK!

Thats a great buy what brand? I've got an "el cheapo" bass from an auction
It it is probably easier to learn than the guitar, but a band centres around the drums and bass for the beat, well a rock/blues band, so these really have to be synchronised to create a "melodic" beat.
rancidskunk
anyone ever heard of the adicts?i listen to leftover crack, choking victim, gg allin, shit like that......
FUCKOFFWANKERS
yer i heard of the addicts and leftover crack, dont listen to em but dont hate them but i do have to say rancid suck tongue.gif
rancidskunk
you dont like rancid?how about op ivy?i dont really like tim armstrong too well......
white_cluster
I agree, rancid is shit.

operation ivy is shit too, started the whole horrible ska/punk thing. I hate ska shit.

Crimpshrine was a good softer punk band though around that time.

GG Allin is some funny shit though, you should check out Anal Cunt, same kinda words grindier music.
syk613
So WC you must luv the clash esp. sandinista, laugh.gif, oh well i suppose we don't all have to like the same thing. Peace mate
FUCKOFFWANKERS
op ivy...meh dont hate them dont like them
white_cluster
Man I love the clash, no not particularily sandinista, I've never owned it, but give em enough rope is a fucking classic, and the first ones pretty good too, London Calling is pretty good, man I love the clash.
love the reggae/ska bits too, that Safe European Home is my fave clash song.
You like stiff little fingers too???

And nah I dont hate Operation Ivy that much, just dont like them that much. at least they dont have a horn section though.
syk613
Yeah mate I luv that record to, esp stay free one of my fave clash songs,
Have you heard the early album Black Market Clash, I have never seen it in a store but got it off a friend, I highly recommend it. No I have never heard any SLF I'll have to get a few mp3 files. Cheers mate
walter_cego
yeah 'stay free' probably rolls in at fave song number 2. I love that lads voice, even big audio dynamites song sounded ok. Have not heard blacxk market clash at all, never even heard of it, so will dfinately check it out.

Anyways how much is "Tommy-Gun" the song of the current times but written 25 years ago.

Stiff Little Fingers are the irish clash but almost even more melodic. they went through there shitty period just like the clash though so dont be put off by the first few songs you hear, there classic song is "alternative ulster".
syk613
laugh.gif ok I may just be enjoying my new vape a little too much or missed a previous post but is white cluster and walter cego ie WC alter ego one in the same sorry if there is no connection or it has already been pointed out.

Anyway black market clash has songs like armegiddoen time (spelling?) and police and thieves you've heard that I'm sure, a lot of the good songs are on the clash on broadway, one of the best songs off the album I'm so bored with the U-S-A. but maybe thats just me? Should be able to get it p2p and thanks for the SLF song REF. Yeah that song (tommy gun) is timeless: quote"...standing there in Palestine lighting a fuse"
white_cluster
damn I forgot to sign back in as white cluster, the secrets out wink.gif
syk613
Sorry mate I didn't mean to out you , but yeah the penny dropped when your alter ego replied to my post to white cluster altho it was only becaues the last name was a bit weird that I noticed the ego then alter ego and eventually WC alter ego. I look forward to trying to spot your next AKA it will make an interesting sideshow to reading posts. Cheers mate that made my day, what a sad life I must have
budsta

shut the fuck up whitecluster. I give you all the respect a filthy inbred hippie like you deserves. You grew a 12 pound plant when you were 3 months old huh? Sounds like something weekprik would say. Did you grow it in a turbo tank with oxyplus or similar? :laugh.gif:
white_cluster
My secret was painting my walls with gloss paint mate, thats why you girls grow little pissy plants all this clayball mixing cock wank you go on with here.
I'm off to visit ask Dr Hemp, he knows what growing dope is all about, not like you newbie fucks, I recommend everyone else go there too, much better than this site.

Did you cunts not hear me, I have been growing for 106 years!!! thats probably more than all of you put together. I've grown more dope than anyone else in this country and I've grown tons overseas too, probably every second bud you smoke was originally grown by me, and I bred ALL strains out there, My family was the original owner of the original cannabis plant, and from that I have bred every strain known to man today, I haven't wanted to take credit for it till now but its true. The government cannot touch me because they are all addicted to my pot. John Howard was stoned last night on my pot if you saw him.

Anyway Pipeman, I hope maggots colonise in your brain, and elephants trample your crop, you are a mean. tongue.gif
Steve0
punks dead dude, but i still love listenin to an old DK album. NOFX is my personal fave. and if youve ever played zelda ocarina of time, the forest temple music is the scariest shit in the world when youre trippin on the MJ.

white_cluster
hey little boy,

did anyone say operation ivy started ska?? not that I read, I said they started this whole shit punk/ska cross-over shit, the stuff that gets ripped off by bands like less than jake and all that gayness today. maybe you should read the posts before deciding to call people a jackass.

Anyway rancidskunk, go back to your rancid CD's mate. and remember this site is for those 18+, I highly doubt there is any Rancid fans over 18.

I'm guessing your american to be such a wanker too, hope a plane lands on your school.

Hahahah , funny joint.gif

DK punk.gif

I know of no other 'Punk' band that is so poltically direct ... Jello Biafra is a legend ... cool.gif

Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables was their earliest album (from what I know) .. and is a good album 4 sure ...
I started listening to DK when I was a young teen , even a little bit before I became a stoner ... and I continue to listen to their albums on occasion still to this day ...
joint.gif

Jello was touring a spoken word show last year .. but I didn't get to see it .. Hopefully he's still performing ...
Also his work with LARD , is impressive stuff (to me) ... some may remember the single from years ago ... "I Wanna Be A Drug Sniffing Dog" ...
whistling0000.gif
Or not ... heheheh ...

Anyway ... I suppose not many people would listen to the Dead Kennedys anymore ... But I still have much respect for their songs and their approach ...

And yeh , Ramones were great ...
And I must defend Rancid ... I thought 'Out Come The Wolves' was quite a good album ...
Plenty of other good 'Punk' Bands ofc ...

O.k. Well ... I must say , that was a funny thread to read thru ... laugh.gif

Cheerz all peace.gif

Budman joint.gif

P.s. (Punk's not dead .. it just deserves to die , when It becomes another stale cartoon - DK)

If you are a Clash fan and you get the chance try and get hold of the film The Clash: Rude Boy. Film is very ordinary, but the live performances that are part of the film are very good.

Crass, Discharge, Conflict, Flux of Pink Indians

Ahh, I remember my anarchopunk days (only bout 3 years ago hehe).

I used to come home from school, end of day or not, get really drunk then listen to those bands, plus others like Oi Polloi ack.gif , the Subhumans, fellow Crass' Dial House bands like the Poison Girls, Zounds, Alternative TV, Huggy Bear (?), Honey Bane, Annie Anxiety, ...the names sort of fail me now, but I still punkout if I'm in the mood to listen, the music is inside of me forever though, like every type I blaze through. DIY not EMI type music is the genuine punk sound.

Then I stopped coming home and getting drunk and got stoned more instead, cue psychedelic rock hehe. Then it was...then...

I'd have to say for shit done, Crass and Propagandhi are the two beacons of punk in my eyes.

Nattefrost
I like New York Punk, which actually pre-dated British punk, they even took the term 'punk' from an American fanzine. Also Malcolm McClaren took the punk image of ripped clothes etc from the New York scene after he saw Richard Hell. Even though the sex pistols claim Malolm McClaren didn't invent their image, despite the fact half of their clothes came from his store.

I like
Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers
The New York Dolls
The Stooges
Richard Hell and the Voidoids
The Dead Boys
The Cramps
The Ramones
freddie
Yeah Natte Stooges are one of my all time favourites. Also The MC5. There was a great Aussie scene with Radio Birdman, Saints and The Birthday Party. Also some long forgotten of the British scene The great Ian Dury and the Blockheads (RIP). Stoners should check out " Sex and drugs and rock and roll" and "I wanna be straight". Early Elvis Costello also.
