It's starting to annoy me, I can easily get rid of spam emails in a flash but waiting for it to download sometimes becomes frustrating especially after a few days away from the computer.
I've tried a few email filters but they were no better than the Outlook express filter that I first used. cool.gif

You can try a programme called Mail Washer. I don't have the website url but it is free, and works well. Also good virus protection.

Maybe look at creating filters for specific words in the subject line, like sex, nude, celebrities, penis enlargement, weight loss, all the usual crap.

also, butting "No Spam" in your email address doesn't work as the spam bots just remove it and get you anyway.

The best solution may just be to periodically change your email address when the spam builds up.

Thanks Pipeman, I'll give Mailwasher a try.
I,ve found that excluding words from email downloads is defeated by the spammers by altering the words eg. sexx, pe Nis, FRee ect. it would be a full time job trying to keep up with their tactics cool.gif

yeah it is, thats why I've just given up and change my email from time to time. I keep a list of everyone who I want to have my email and just send them the new address when I change.

I am assuming your after a program not rulesets so I would have to recoment Mailwall if you have a network of machines to protect mailwall will do the job as well or you could have a look at Surfcontrol Email filter . thats gonna involve you setting up rules and actions though

Mozilla has pretty intelligent spam filtering in it's Mail&Newsgroups module. I haven't resinstalled MailWashers since using this. Thunderbird, their standalone e-mail and newsgroup client, has the same junk detection. Plus it's all freeware at mozilla.org.
