I thought I'd put some links in here, I noticed that there has been a bit of confusion in regards to hacking and security.
:laugh.gif: The first is actually a chat log that I think is a pretty good example of not being switched on........laugh.gif
Chat Log - example of a lamer.....
Now, if you want to find out about hacking, but aren't sure where to go-Progenic
You can take your pick, although I used to haunt a site called 'smart hack', the guy who runs it is melbourne based I think, bass99. Pretty good tools and tutorials. Also, hackology.com I like to follow, they bring out some pretty interesting stuff............ wink.gif
Most hacking attempts are just script kiddies, or newbies armed with downloaded trojans. Real hackers you'll find actually hack for knowledge, not kicks. And normally like to target corporate or government sites, not your everyday net user. And put it this way, unless you know the basics, you wouldn't even know they'd been there....laugh.gif.
You think society has a hang-up about MJ? Hackers are big bad ugly nasty monsters...........laugh.gif, if you listen to the common veiw as helped by the American government and media.
Trojans and viruses are nothing more than computer programs, programmed for malicious intent. Trojans are usually the main baddies, they'll often have keyloggers and password stealing programs, as well as opening a backdoor to your computer, basically inviting anyone in.
Be aware of how it works, and you'll probably be a lot more vigilant when it comes to net security once you realise how easy it is to enter another persons system.

Gets a bit confusing?.

Hi Chev,

Iam pretty paranoid atm, due to the problems on OS,
You also thought I was trying to hack ppl on the site,(not a bitching thread plz laugh.gif),

I have been using Zone alarm and Norton 2002 AV,
I also search with evidence eliminator, and spybot.

DO you think if someone is really trying to hack us again that these will hold up ok?

Also whats your view on using something like www.nonymouse.com ???
its a free proxy.
I know nothing about security sorry, or hacking for that matter, all i know about hacking is from the one hacking disc I have H/P/A/V/C library 32 bit hacking tools, but Im too scared to use the tools, but brought it to try and protect myself.

Thanks in advance. WP

Debian is a good firewall OS for you home computer or network. $100 worth of computer + dual nic or nic + modem and some time to set it up and update it as a Internet gateway is all you need. tongue.gif

Yeah, zone alarm is good, and so is NAV. Anyone good enough to get through wouldn't be anywhere near your system anyway laugh.gif............
Anonymous proxies are good, but remember if someone really wants to find you, they will. Even spoofing can be figured out, with a lot of work.
Look. When users are online here, ppl can see. If you have your msn or yahoo on your profile, they then have your hotmail or yahoo account. Which is then easy as shit to use for hacking. Actually scary how easy it is, and how just about anybody can access tools for this sort of thing.
Just be aware of what you're downloading, and who you communicate with online. Your anti-virus and firewall should do the rest.

I also find that spybot 1.2 is a very useful tool to have, I also use the spyware blaster add-in.

hey chev81

thanks for this thread... wink.gif it got me thinking that i am a bit slack in some areas of computer security etc.

so, i downloaded Spybot search and destroy......zone alarm....and windows & internet washer.

i have installed all 3 and ran them. dont seem to have problems at this stage, i cant believe the amount of shit they have picked up.

i am also running the lastest vet anti virus, so i hope i am now covered enough .if not, is there any thing else i could install... wink.gif

cheers

Yep get anti trojan 5.5 if you can get it...

ALSO you need to have a resident shield especially if you use porgs like kazaa, win mx etc....

If you dont have a resident shield by the time you do your next manual scan the viruses/trojans/whatever can have affected large portions of your pc and programs...

This is a really interesting site, check it out:
HackerWatch.org
They have activity maps, and you can check out a live graph of the lovesan worm activity around the world.
