There are loads of free security tools here www.webattack.com

Try looking thru' the list of Security-Privacy tools - you're bound to find something to do what you want. G.

Windows gives you diskclean up which removes everything you want. You can set your browsers to have no history aswell.

If you want to check out mj sites you can create alias in your

c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

file

type in the website then give it another name eg www.workwebsite.net

So if your at work and they happen to log your computer theyll see that URL instead.

But they can still nab you if they run a proxy but hey you can always deny it smile.gif

Steganous is a good programme. It creates a "safe" on your hard drive that requires a pass word to enter. It's encrypted when "closed" higher than military encryption. It has a "shredder" that u can delete documents through that makes them irretrievable.

It has many other functions, but that's the guist of it. It also has a setting that deletes all temp. internet files, history and such by shredding it through high military encryption when u shut down the computer each time.

cheers

geekgrower, Microshit products have many holes in them when it comes to security, there are also many claims that their security products do not remove items that would be of interest to Microshit. This is another reason why firewalls are so popular.

Tom, I just bought this peice of shit computer I told you about. I tried to install my firewall "terminet". It's a very very good firewall, but if I run it, I cant dial in to get a bloody internet connection.

I gave up in disgust, but do u think if I screw around with it, I can get it to run?

thanks

Get Zone Alarm it's free for personal use and can now handle XP. Quite a few programs don't move from 98/95 to XP very well, this is partly because XP is based more on NT - five (Windows 2000) than Win9x.

XP does have a compatibility wizard, which I have used with varied success. Programs/Accessories/Program compatibility wizard.

Thanks tom, I'd rather try to adjust mine and use it. It's a far cry better than zone alarm I reckon

I use the free version of Zonealarm and a cracked version of Norton Utilities 2002 and can guarantee i'm locked down against anyone ( unless i accidently d/l a trojan on a porn jpeg. - won't happen again!) anyway one way to put ya system to the test is by goin to either: Sygate Security Scan
or Symantec Security Scan
i come up aces with this config ( i still here after 2 years online chatting) each time , but it all depends on where you travel on the net and why you might be a target for an attack rolleyes.gif
and did anyone tell the guy to delete all history on ya pc ( i assume internet usage - porn? biggrin.gif ) just go to internet options and delete all cookies/ offline content and clear history , then go to start>settings>taskbar &start menu>start menu programs and delete ya documents menu , now mum wont know u been at www.chixwivdix.com hehe just kiddin
have fun! wink.gif

Mr Putard
hi, all of these third party tools are good for one thing - third partie protection....they offer little service for people like your self where your most vulnerable from the isp point of view... isp billing software records every url you ever go to ....
Tom
Mr Putard, several of the members here are proficient and/or work in the computer industry, we are aware of the risks of visiting sites like this on the internet, Zone Alarm and Norton System Works 2003 look after my PC and they have always passed the on-line tests with flying colours. My computer is as secure as it can be without being a pain in the rear end and that is good enough for me.

thanks for the scan sites mul....this pc has passed all of them - it sits behind a secured firewall which is my linux box biggrin.gif

hi all, biggrin.gif im with tom on this lil yarn, i got norton internet security 2002 free with the comp, works a charm, sometimes its too good! this fucker stops everything, i gotta disable it now and then for some shit, like d/l verifieds from fasttrack central, but only momentarily. wink.gif heres the tip- SIMPLICITY. im still on ky L-plates pooda-wise, but im no fuckwit. ive had shit happen that near drove me insane... anyways, go for simple security. 1)good housekeeping 2)up-to-date antivirus gear 3)adaware 6,...must be freeware by now 4)pest-patrol. keep em updated, use em regularly. good housekeepings about emptying history files etc, antivirus constantly enabled-scan once a week. the rest are just easy progs to use, not tryin to sell em. got most of my software off kazaa...secure as can be without being a pain in the arse...you bet biggrin.gif

what you want is called a file shredder it is very basic and sweet it takes the file you want deleted , deletes it and then continally overwrites that segment of the disk up to 20 times depending on the shredder you use. thats about as deleted as you can get your drive without using magnets
