A Guide For Uploading Images To Ozstoners

First, I am going to assume you have read my thread on How To Resize images. If not, it would probably be a good idea to do so, because Ozstoners size limit-per-post limitations are quite small compared to the size of the images today's cameras produce. If you are unaware of the size limits, they are as follows:

  • New Members (75 posts and below): 75 kb
  • Senior Members (75-500 posts): 100 kb
  • Old Farts (500 posts): 150kb
  • 420 Crew (regardless of post count): 300 kb

  • The global space is unlimited. This means that even though you can only post a certain size amount per post, you can make as many posts with as many images as you want, so long as its not more than the limits set out above.

I will also assume you know how to make a new post as well :P

First off you will need to know where the images you want to upload are located on your PC's Hard Drive.

Obviously you need to click 'reply' or 'new topic' before you can post pictures. I will assume (again) that you are up to this point :P

We all know what they say about assuming things, but oh well..

STEP 1:
  • To upload a picture to Ozstoners, click the 'browse' button (I have circled it in the picture below):

STEP 2:

  • Now you need to locate the image file, using the mini-browser that pops up (see picture below). Once located, just double-click on it, and the mini-browser should disappear. Now you will be left with the location of your file in the text box next to the browse button (see picture).

    Your image will now upload, it shouldnt take very long at all depending on your connection speed :)

STEP 3:
  • After your image uploads the page will reload, and now underneath where you clicked to browse to your image you will see the name of your image, with two new buttons: Remove and Add into Post (see below picture):

[attachmentid=13029]

STEP 4:
  • Now all you need to do is position the typing cursor where ever you want your image to be placed in your post/thread, and then click the 'Add Into Post' button. You will see it appear in your post as "attachmentid=xxxxx", surrounded with the [ ] tags, and with the x's replaced with numbers.
    You can play around with where you position you pictures too, if you prefer them to be in the centre for example, just highlight the image in your post (attachmentid=xxxx, make sure to highlight the [ ] that surround them as well), and click the centre text button which i have circled in this picture:

[attachmentid=13031]

    Now all you have to do to finish your post (assuming you have finished typing and stuff :) ), is click the 'Add Reply' button. Then the page will reload and should display your post / new thread, including your lovely, freshly uploaded pics :thumbsup:

I'm not going to go into all of the things you can do with your pictures, as there are alot, this is just to show you how to get them onto Ozstoners in the first place. :P I hope this guide helps some of you, as i know uploading and posting pictures can be a little confusing sometimes. Any problems, comments or information that I may have forgotten, please dont hesitate to pm me.
