Hey All just another quick message on the chat room as I've been sitting it the past few days monitoring the traffic going through it and there is a little however the problem seems to be people are just jumping in and out of there...

I've found by having it open while browsing the site on a separate page tends to get people in there more as they see your name at the bottom of the main forums page as being in chat or they stay in chat when they get there because theres actually someone in there or even people in conversation
So yea anyway just a thought on how to fill up the chat a bit more hope to see more of you in there.

Every time I enter the chatroom I get a "disconnected error #U724.
My java is up to date.

To incrase chat use why dont OS have a meeting time once each week, fornight or monthy. Just a sugestion.

I think that is a good idear my self, do it say twice a month, and for each meeting try and have a topic we can talk about...

We have tried that a few times but one or two people showed up and they just came in cause they saw others in there

but we have had a huge influx of people since we last tried so we will give it a go again ,

with the new chat it is allot more personalisable for us , and it is also ours to own, provided it gets used it will be a perminent part of OS's site , I am still working on the instant messanger however with things beign hectic in the real world atm for me I have had little time to work on it

Just letting people know the people in chat at bottom of page isn't working correctly there has actually been quite a few people going in there today and leaving it open while they browse so you should find you'll will get more and more to chat as more people open it while they browse the site or net etc...

For reasons unknown to myself it has been removed by the ganja gods, which was a sudden, dissapointing
shame IMO

So now if you want to chat just click on the Live Chat at the top of the page......... but dont expect
anything like it was before

When i logged on there i was shocked to see the IP's of all people in the room as well as my own
IP address and provider, which needless to say freaked me right out

shouldnt have been able to see my IP or for that matter anyone who logs in using xchat as it connects using ssl

Im not talking about what should or should not happen
what i posted is what happened to me when i clicked on the "live chat" at the top
of the OS page and logged onto the chat


You were not in chat WDC when i logged in as i recall and i could not see your details,
but sukonmi skunk, pure and nugget were some who were there at the time and thier internet
provider was alongside thier names

in the script it had Frazzle xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx blah.net .au which is my address except for the xxx and blah
also it had the internet provider of all other people in that room at the time, but not thier actual address.

I know stuff all about internet protocol, so this maybe all fine for all i know

It may also be worth mentioning that i was not under the influenece of any drug at the time

what the bloody hell were you doing in a stoners chat room not stoned! oughta be ashamed of yourself frazz.

that right is i told ss that i could see his ip as well and everyone else ip im sure that this will be fixed, i seem to not be able to get into chat now but i will keep trying.
is the old chat room coming back as it was alot better in my thoughts i dont understand why poeple are saying that it was not been used everytime i was there poeple where there and chating?
now my toys have been takeing away now this what will i do with my spare time, to much i can not handle all this bring it back or i have to go and do more work...

Xchat is Very safe, Ive been using it for months.
Not as flash as the ozstoners one, but stilla good chat. and very secure.
You didnt see Ip numbers on xchat, I can assure you of that.

What you may have seen, is the junk that says what ISP your using.
eg mine says im in NSW, and Im in Qld.

I am trying to fix the issue that flash chat has as we speak , and as soon as the problem is fixed it will come back again ,

you all know for years I have said irc is not the Ozstoner way to do things , and that has not changed yet , the reason there is an irc chat is to accomidate those that where enjoying hanging out and talkign in the chat each day , I didn't want to take away from those people so i organised a space for them to talk .

I promise to keep you al up to date on whats happening

thats cool pure its thank less job that you do and as soon as something is pulled off and we can not use we all scream about it. It just goes to show how much we all depend on it and you to give as our joy for the day..

I hope the old system is back and fix real soon..

Yah thanks, Pure. It's best to stay away from IRC if that method involves a low security option. Look forward to seeing a new, fun, secure chat room. I can't get the current chat to work anymore either, which just as well -- the IP showing thing got me paranoid.

Hi all - I have downloaded Xchat and insatalled. I set up an "#ozstoner" acct and then entered the server info.


I am just wondetring if any new members will know of chats existance ! How do they know there is such a thing - can you access it via OS site using the "live chat" button ?



I recall a comment on the recent changes to SSL server space was not going to be an issue. May be I am illinformed

PS/ I am not keen on Xchat & doubt if I will change again - I may just skip chat alltogether. - I will give it another try later

on the second day osa chat was in irc instead of flash chat, there was a new member, 30-60 min old account at the most who got in there and was asking everyone where they lived, if they wanted to sell a bit of pot, etc...needless to say he was very promptly banned from chat, but to answer your question, yes newbies can find threads about osa chat, login information and eventually get into chat

i signed in to the celticstone server a couple of times using mirc, but i can't connect with that anymore. i have just dloaded xchat and tried with that and can't get in either.

i must be doing something wrong, where were those instructions again?

i tried the live chat link at the top of page too... no luck.

accept invalid ssl (should work in new xchat w/o that, as the cert IS good)

and yer set.
there are no gay icons, smilies, or any of that. It's a plain, ordinary ircd, any client will work, as long as it can accept ssl

if you have a read through all the previous posts you will see that the way peopel are talkign about going in is through xchat , you have do get xchat and follow the instructions given by deadvet or by me in my news post

I'm not sure why chat was disabled, but I'm sure pure is doing it for improvement/safety of it in the long run etc..
